How is my Climate Footprint calculated?▼
PocketSpend multiplies each transaction by a region-aware emissions factor for its category. Flights, energy, and red meat weigh heavy; plant-based groceries and rail travel weigh light. The total is your monthly CO₂ estimate.
Is the estimate accurate?▼
It is a directional estimate using published emissions factors, not a precise lifecycle analysis. The value is in seeing month-over-month trend and category contribution — not in comparing to a third-party audit.
Why "trees-equivalent"?▼
A mature tree absorbs roughly 21 kg of CO₂ per year. Translating your monthly footprint into trees-to-offset is easier to feel than abstract kg CO₂e numbers.
How does the regional comparison work?▼
We compare your monthly footprint to the average person in your country, not a global default. UK average is lower than US average; UAE per-capita is higher than Australia. We use published per-capita data per region.
